Is Drossia Palms open year round?
Drossia Palms is open from the beginning of April until the end of October.

 

Is Drossia Palms situated near the nightlife district?
Yes, the hotel is at the beach end side of the nightlife & entertainment district.

 

Is the hotel situated in a quiet or a loud environment?
Drossia Palms is situated in a quiet environment but may occasionally experience some problems with noise at night.

 

What languages does the hotel staff speak?
The hotel staff is Greek and English speaking.

 

What time is check in / out?
Check in is at 14.00pm. and check-out is at noon (12.00am). A late check-out can be arranged at a small charge on request upon availability.

 

Which currencies do you accept?
We accept all currencies and all major credit cards.
We gladly accept your foreign currency exchange at official bank rates.

 

Does Drossia Palms provide parking space?
Yes, we offer free private parking space behind our hotel.

 

Do you have a garden?
Yes, we have a lovely garden with palm trees, plants and flowers.  there is also a lawn to lazily bask in the sun, next to our swimming pool.

 

Are pets allowed?
No, we're sorry, but unfortunately pets are not welcome in Drossia Palms. Personally we have nothing against them, but not all our guests are charmed by pets.

 

Is the hotel accessible for guests with a kinetic disability?
Yes, Drossia Palms is partly disability-friendly and wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, however, our hotel does not meet all requirements to be entirely 'wheelchair accessible'. In case of emergency, can I consult an English speaking doctor?
Yes, there are excellent English speaking doctors. Malia counts several private medical centres on a 24/7 base as well as qualified dentists and several pharmacies.

 

How big is Malia and its population?
The municipality of Malia consists of the coastal villages Malia and Stalis plus their mountain counterparts Krassi and Mohos and has a population of around 6,000. It covers a surface area of about 6,700ha.

 

Is there a bus stop / taxi stand nearby?
Yes, a bus stop as well as a taxi stand are nearby (5 minutes by foot).

 

Is tap water safe to drink?
Yes, tap water is safe to drink in Crete, but bottled water is generally preferred.

 

What power supply do you have?
Power supply in Greece / Crete is 220V. Sockets accept two-round pin plugs. Adaptors are readily available at any supermarket, or just ask our staff to help you out. Power cuts happen occasionally, especially in summertime, due to strained generating capacity.

 

What time zone does Crete have?
Crete, like the rest of Greece, is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Time (GMT +2) and adjusts to summertime at 4am on the last Sunday in March until 4am on the last Sunday in October.

 

What are the shop opening hours?
Shop opening hours vary, but are usually from 9am – 11pm daily in summertime. Banks and post office are open Mon – Fri from 08.00 – 14.00 hours.

 

How frequent are the local bus services?
Bus services are operated by the KTEL cooperative and buses are fast, frequent and comfortable. They leave in both directions from Malia’s main road about every 20 minutes, to Heraklio in the west and to Agios Nikolaos in the east.

 

Do you have places of interest in the area?

What climate do you have?
Crete has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters.

 

How far is it to Heraklio?
Heraklio, Crete’s capital, is 35km west of Malia (by bus app. 40min, by car app. 30min). The airport of Heraklionis about 32km west of Malia.

 

Can I have access to the Internet?
Yes, Drossia Palms provides free Wi-Fi Internet access in public areas, as well as central internet access in our internet corner.

 

Can I rent a car or bike?
Car and bike rentals are readily available; you can always ask us or one of our friendly hotel staff members to assist you.

 

How far is the hotel to the city centre and to the beach?
Drossia Palms is a 2 minutes’ stroll from the central beach strip, while Malia Old Town is within easy reach (about 10-15 minutes by foot). Shops and taverns are just around the corner. (See also: Location).
